Life brings challenges. Sometimes we may view these as obstacles, in a negative light and yet …they may be a door and an initiation. As we suffer in some way we may begin to call to something greater than ourselves, to God or the universe. What is most important is that we do call – and begin to listen. Slowing down and allowing ourselves to be very still we allow the systems of our mind and body to settle – we come to simply be ourselves.
All that mankind has needed is here on this beautiful planet. We may have indoor plumbing, plenty of money, good friends, and all of life‘s convenience and yet still be unhappy.
“Western civilisation proves hollow to a horrifying degree“ wrote Sigmund Freud at the start of his Civilisation and its Discontents.. about 100 years ago. What is needed now, especially in these times of chaos and uncertainty, is a concerted effort to develop and consciously grow on the inner planes and in awareness- many of us are no longer be satisfied with the habits of external stimulation, gratification and materialism.
There is a joy that awaits us in connecting to our soul, to a deeper sense of ourselves. It is possible to actively work with all the stories of our lives, to transform our thoughts and our experiences – to transform our suffering and pain and that of our world.
Kundalini Yoga & Meditation provide a scientifically validated and proven methodology for working with difficult emotions and improving our wellbeing on all levels: emotional, physical, mental, spiritual.
I offer classes, online (and in person soon), retreats and workshops bringing together various strands of learning with a focus on health and wellbeing through Kundalini Yoga & Meditation, self-healing techniques, healing with dreams, creativity – and connecting with the land, nature and Ireland‘s wisdom tradition. Sufi poetry and Sikh dharma also inform this work.
In addition to the trainings below I‘ve studied a BA in Fine Art and Art History from NCAD, MA Ethnomusicology and a Diploma in Irish from NUI Galway.
When I am not teaching I am a mother to Lughnasa ( aged 11) and have worked as managing editor, feature writer, designer, performer and artist.
