An Solas Lastuigh

Nourishing the Light Within*

Ours is a world that appears , increasingly, to demand perpetual stimulation, answerability and divided attention. Now, as we have passed the threshold of Samhain, we face the one pointedness of winter with it’s long cold descent into the dark months – the spectacular fanfare of autumnal exuberance is but a reminder of the burning life force that is on retreat. Winter invites us to join in this contraction, to honour the fact of our mortality and the march of time. These are months for the slow and deliberate care that tends the inner light, the embers of life force that must continue to glow through the dark months.

Letting go of all that has been just as the leaves are released from their green bondage, can involve acknowledging what progress we may have made over the past year, noting triumphs as well as sadness and loss. The somber mood of winter can have a tendency to lend itself to feelings of depression and that contraction may be to our detriment. The bonds of friendship, family and neighbourly care are the hidden golden threads that uphold our wellbeing. Likewise, our own inner relationship with Self, how we feel about who we are and how our life has been up to this point can come into sharp relief without the pageantry of summers light.

The words ‘An Solas Lastuigh’ mean the Light Within and point to this inner vital force that is also the light of our soul, our immortal being. Though all I have learned as a healing facilitator and working with Soul Realignment® over the past few years, it is clear that our soul thrives and we in turn receive increased boosts in energy when we express our innate gifts and talents – when we share this with the world and our community.

Today, with so much invitation to distraction from the online world of social media to a seeming endless chaos of the world as it appears to be – it can be a challenge to hold our centre, to listen to that clarity of our soul, and to move with creative power that also moves through us. Apart from the fundamental necessity of sharing time in nature, one of the greatest allies I have found in working with the energy of the mind and body is through the technology of Kundalini Yoga & Meditation.

I am embarking on a 40 day commitment to the Nabhi Kriya to work with the core energy and the solar plexus, the willpower. For the past few months, as I had such back pain I have been doing specific protocol for the back and I am delighted that this has served me well and now I am pain free. I will also continue the yoga for the back as it feels nourishing as a maintenance set ensuring my spine is well cared for. It takes 40- days to break a habit and to really integrate the benefits of a yoga set.

If you would be interested to have a link to instructions of these yoga sets, or join me in a 40 day practice let me know *

Over the past months I have moved to live in Co. Clare.

Next Saturday I am offering a Day Retreat, open to anyone who would like to join me for a day of Kundalini Yoga & Meditation with live music, lunch is also included : )
