Recently the work has been an exploration of the Mayo landscape, wild nature and the Irish language. I had an exhibition at the Enda ‘O Brien Gallery in Co. Clare from December 25-January 26 sharing an ongoing series inspired by the late Manchán Magan’s “32 words for Field”.
This year’s work with schools is ongoing with a project about Gráinne Mhaol, the 16th century “pirate queen”, chieftain, captain, leader from Co. Mayo.

Collaborating with teachers and students at primary and secondary level to develop creativity and explore what is possible – learning new skills and developing creative confidence through art, music, songwriting, drama and creative expression.
Click on the links below to learn more about recent creative projects in schools. It was a joy to collaborate with the children and teenagers and their teachers. Some of these projects also brought in additional collaborators. We worked with Music Generation on the song recording projects and also brought in local knowledge to enhance learning and broaden project scope. I hope that the experiences have been of benefit to all involved and sowed the seeds for future creative expression and discovery !

Native Trees Project
A project at two primary schools connecting to native trees and building a tree nursery. MORE
Here is the only photograph I have of these wood sculptures – it was 2005 and I was able to have some time at the Sculpture Centre in Leitrim. I completed three sculptures while there, each in oak. There are only drawings of these two to the left- it was a time I was exploring the Irish mythology of the Dagdha- Irish Bull God and archetype of healthy masculinity.

Teacht i dTír – Áras Inis Gluaire
Teacht i dTír is an ongoing body of work exploring connection to land, language, place and heritage. Exploring the emotion of being “out at sea” as a symbolic state of being when disconnected from touchstones of identity and connection to place. These themes have been explored through loose ink drawings, texts, collage, pastel drawings, map making and film. “Teacht i dTír” means coming onto land – in the sense of landing a boat in a safe harbour. Teacht I dTír can also mean to understand someone or a condition of being understood.
