Píosa scríobh faoin íoga | Some writings on Kundalini Yoga
The bottom line is that our present western culture runs on an operating system of belief and action rooted in a concept of reality that is ‘linear’, rather than in harmony with the infinity that we are and the cycles of nature. This is enacted through unspoken agreements about the nature of reality and on a practical level, the many systems that enact the finite materialism oriented paradigm that deny our true nature. There is also a gross imbalance between the energy of giving and receiving, the male and the female, doing and relaxation ( with a focus on externally validated action rather than receptivity, intuition and inner wisdom ). The present paradigm denies the soul and even the frameworks that were formed over time have atrophied such that corrupted beliefs occlude the capacity to perceive reality. Many are invested in false narratives that can bring worldly gain without recourse to the bigger picture – like a cancer that grows in ignorance of the needs of the whole. Now is the time for miracles and a new story that can carry us across to create a beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
Introducing Kundalini Yoga & Meditation
There is so much to be said about Kundalini Yoga & Meditation that it could fill volumes : the truth is in your own experience.
This form of yoga and meditation is a devotional practice that has as its goal the becoming more of who we truly are, our soul’s essence and expanding the horizon of our potential.
It is also rooted in the profound wisdom of a spiritual tradition that began with a worldwide journey singing the praise in One God & affirming a brotherhood of all mankind, through the life of the first Sikh Guru, Naanak. Coming at a time when the western world was enduring the brutality of the “Reformation”, Naanak ( whose name means ‘no nose” ie. humble), brought a message that is true and enduring and for all mankind. The ‘good news’ that was brought by the teachings of Jesus travelled from the Holy Lands, and through the “desert fathers” from Africa and then was distributed through the action of Irish monks into Europe of the Dark Ages. To the spirit of hatred and vengeance there came a message of the power of forgiveness. In the words of eastern spirituality this is the message of Dharma, a path of love and service rather than ( karma).
The technology offered by Kundalini Yoga and Meditation allows us to meet the challenge of these times we are living through now. The enduring Christian message that uplifted humanity out of the Dark Ages is true also for our times – yet today in a time of ignorance we are called to live with more courage, grit and connection to our soul.
The practice of Kundalini yoga and meditation offers us a way to develop the consciousness, the grit, resilience and elevated spirit that is needed to meet the challenges of our times today. While once belief was enough, now we learn to embody and bring in the positive change through our presence. The mantras and the sound current of the ‘Naad’ that is a core part of these practices is rooted in an elevated consciousness of the presence of the divine and our own connection to our infinite soul. To come closer to living who we are, our soul nature is to invite more creativity, innocence, playfulness and courage. We learn to master the mind and to bring balance to the nervous system ; we develop a “self sensory system” rooted in a sense of wholeness and connection with our spiritual nature.
How can Yoga & Meditation help today ? | Change from within
We achieve this through releasing the accumulated tension and impact of stress in the mind and body, nurturing the nervous system into a state of balance and stimulating the endocrine system to optimal function. Breath, movement, rhythm and the use of sound are key parts of Kundalini Yoga and meditation practice.
The “Naad”, the vibration of all creation is a key element in the power of devotional chant and coming together to practice. As we practice together we create the physiological basis for peace and enhance the power of the heart. The healing that happens through Kundalini Yoga and meditation is cumulative : as you practice a chosen yoga set or meditation each day, you bring lasting changes at a cellular level. We heal from the inside out. This is the gift that we can give ourselves – and the give that we can receive is in being more of who we really are.

Western civilization has known the space of prayer. Prayer is to direct one’s attention and intention, to ask for unseen spiritual help, to pray for our loved ones. Prayer acknowledges that we are multidimensional beings and connected to all others, beyond time and space. To what extent has the great resource that is available to us through prayer been atrophied through false beliefs that consider prayer to be transactional and punitive.
To take radical responsibility for one’s thoughts, emotions and actions and bring the presence of the divine into every breath. This is a path to mature from childhood perceptions of ‘God’ or spirituality. We have an opportunity to grow in awareness through our own experience.
There are many scientific studies that have demonstrated the power of prayer.
Our lives and bodies operate through rhythms and cycles, from the cycles of breath, digestion, sleep and hormonal cycles to the cycles that we inhabit in our daily lives.
Our world is in chaos and conflict and the tension and stress that we experience can lead to ill health. The technology of kundalini yoga and meditation allows us to release the effects of stress and experience deep and restorative relaxation.
When we look at our emotional and thought patterns we can see how we contribute in a negative ( or positive way ) to the outcome of any action.
Through the mental and physical discipline and commitment that are cultivated through regular practice , we enhance our capacity to bring positive change into our lives and the world.

I have been teaching Kundalini Yoga and meditation since 2014. I trained with i-SKY ( Level 1), also in Radiant Child yoga, Sat Nam Rasayan ( Level 1 ) and also completed a training to facilitate kundalini yoga for ptsd.
It is a privilege to share these teachings that have so touched my life. I have facilitated classes, workshops and retreats – also featuring live music.
There are many helpful practices and meditations that can be shared that are of particular benefit to women. As women we are invited to step up to bring balance and healing to the earth – we can do this through nurturing fierce compassion, resourcefulness, intuition, creativity and beauty.
I have also taught in schools to children and teenagers through Irish and English, and given classes for older adults.
