Aquarian Sadhana with live music
on the the Third Sunday of every Month
Early Morning Yoga, Meditation and Chanting
You may have heard of the concept of the “Age of Aquarius“: Aquarius is the water bearer- the one who gives live and spiritual nourishment to the world.
Today together we are living through awakening awareness of racial inequality, the legacy and continuing issue of slavery, and the general moment of crisis and challenge: environmental, social, personal, political and economic.
Sadhana is an opportunity to connect, beyond identity, to the wisdom of our undying and infinite soul. In the silence and peace of the early morning we prepare for the day ahead.
In Group Consciousness, we multiply the effects of our intentions and prayers for ourselves, our loved ones and the world. Sadhana brings focus, discipline, depth and perspective and joy!
Jaap Ji – “ Song of the Soul“
From Guru Naanak Dev (1469 – 1539), we receive Jaap Ji, the “Song of the Soul“. This is available to all humanity and is composed of 40 paurees each one in itself a remedy for particular life issues, through the power of the Naad or sound current. Written in gurbani, this is a profound technology for uplifting consciousness. Guru Naanak taught that it is not what religion we follow but how we live our lives that matters. He spoke out against the caste system in India, teaching instead the equality of all humanity, men and women, and all races.
Spanning a period of twenty five years Guru Naanak travelled the world on foot together with his companion Mardana sharing uplifting devotional music preaching a message of unity and love that there is only one God. There is no Hindu. There is no Muslim. There is only one brotherhood of humanity.
Full recitation of Jaap Ji takes 15 – 30 mins.
This is followed by yoga and meditation. Then shivasanna, deep relaxation.
Finally, Aquarian Sadhana is completed through chanting together the Aquarian Mantras. Imagine you are in the company of millions who are also chanting with you.

WAHE GURU WAHE JIO
This is a mantra of ecstasy with which we establish ourselves for victory and the right to excel. Chant sitting in Vir Asan (warrior pose), sitting on the left heel, with the right knee against the chest, with hands in Prayer Pose. Eyes are focused at the tip of the nose.
Wahe Guru Wahe Guru Wahe Guru Wahe Jio
“Wow, God is great!” or “indescribably great is His Infinite, Ultimate Wisdom.”
Pronounced: “Wah- Hay Goo Roo“
Comment ( 18/6/2020 )**
The sound “Wah“ relates to the water element, (similar to the sound water makes when it is poured out of a bottle). The “hay“ relates to fire. Coming together this is the fizz of energy and transformation. Rather than mindlessly sounding words, we are called to bring awareness and depth to expression – the words of these mantras carry energy. Through this practice we bring our mental and emotional/ devotional energy to a single point focus that magnifies. “Wah Hay“ is thus an expression of ecstasy – such as we feel at the moment of dawn, as the sun pierces through the clouds to illuminate a new day. It is the meaning of Guru – ( Gu = darkness, Ru = light ) : that which brings us from darkness to light : from ignorance to understanding ; from sorrow to bliss.
“Jeeo“ is an affectionate but still respectful variation of the word Jee meaning soul.
It is said that it takes 22 minutes for all the blood in the body to go through the gums. (If you do oil-pulling you are familiar with this concept ). Meditating and chanting this mantra for 22 minutes allows the sound to resonate in every cell of our being and can be truly elevating. Through this mantra we establish ourselves for victory and the right to excel.
This chant is traditionally practiced in Vir Asan, a posture in which you sit on the left heel , with the right knee against the chest, with hands in Prayer Pose. Eyes focused on the tip of the nose.
GURU RAM DAS CHANT
This mantra is one of humility. It opens the Heart Center (4th chakra) so that we can feel and effortlessly radiate universal love. We call on Guru Ram Das in praise of his spiritual guiding light and protective grace.
Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru
The first part (Guru Guru Wahe Guru) projects the mind to the source of knowledge and ecstasy. The second part (Guru Ram Das Guru) means “the wisdom that comes as a servant of the Infinite.”
