Winter Solstice 2024
The quality of winter solstice is stillness, inviting us to pause and deeply rest as the life force rests in the roots of trees and plants at this time. This can be a Time of deep listening, an opportunity to work with the gift of deep winter and the natural stillness of this special time- so that we can resource ourselves, anchor our connection to inner wisdom and our positive intentions for the times to come.
On this gathering we share the powerful and time honoured technology of spiritual upliftment and radiant health that is kundalini yoga & meditation. Through live music we share an experience of the healing sound current of mantra and prayerful chant to deeply anchor our intentions and focus the mind.
This is a bilingual retreat in Irish and English bringing in the awareness and memory of those devoted spiritual communities who once lived here in the monastic city of Glendalough.
As part of this weekend retreat we inhabit the unity and continuity of an ancient thread of spiritual devotion to the One in everyone, the point of balance between east and west, remembering both the ancient yogic teachings and the uplifted compassionate heart of Christianity. Join in an experience of poetry, chants and blessings in Irish from early christian Ireland and walk the ancient paths in this special place of peace and beauty.
This weekend will be an opportunity to nourish a kernel of peace and awareness, sharing meditations and practices from the technology of kundalini yoga to release stress from the body and mind, to nourish the heart and amplify our prayers. Sharing early morning Sadhana at this precious turning point of the year we have a special opportunity to clarify and anchor in our intentions. At this time when the light of the sun is at its lowest point, the external stimulation of the active our attention is drawn to the light that dwells within us.
Sharing poetry and songs in the Irish language connecting with the spirit of Glendalough a place of prayer & contemplation for thousands of years. Ireland’s sacred citadel of learning, a place of ancient renown. It is known that those seeking spiritual knowledge and insight travelled from faraway lands to live, work and study here in this place of serenity, beauty and enduring peace.
Today, as the pace of change and the pressure of the time we can remember that which never grows old. Our human yearning for peace, for healing, for transformation in our hearts and in our world.
NOTE: A basic level of fitness is required to participate in this weekend’s activities as this will involve both a physical yoga and meditation practice and time shared walking in the beautiful surroundings of Glendalough.
