Yoga Workshop in Leitrim!

Last weekend we had a first yoga workshop in the countryside. Kundalini Yoga and Meditation with a focus on yogic techniques to build resilience in the face of stress and to throw off the effects of past traumas on the brain. I really enjoyed sharing some music and chanting too. More of that please !

Manorhamilton in Co. Leitrim – I once lived there for a time. So good to return and share yoga, meditation, fun and healthy food with the lovely ladies who came along on Saturday. Great also to share the abundance of our very fertile garden – miso soup, sprouts and some very special cakes – a big thank you to Tina and friends, both two and four legged ! I’m looking forward to coming back again soon : )

Next Workshop Theme : Caring for our Heart

The concept of “Heart” for most of us, is of an organ that is separate and distinct to ourselves. But what if we came to understand our heart as a centre of connection and not really belonging to us at all? What if Heart is something that we belong to?

In Ireland, heart disease is a major killer. Many of us have a major block around our hearts and this emotional protection mechanism which may have been formed early in our lives to protect ourselves from being hurt can also lead to a loss of vital energy to this region.

In this workshop we will be work to invite a renewal of the energy around our heart centre- pumping blood to this region through vigorous yoga and then working with the voice and chanting to further activate the emotional potency that resides here, a source of nourishment and connection. The Heart “chakra” is also associated with the element air – we can imagine with every breath how our lungs massage our gentle hearts with every rise and fall of the breath.

We can also work to share healing and intentionally remove the ‘heart wall’ that we may have formed around our hearts. Progress can be measured and so you can continue this work on yourself in your own time in the weeks and months ahead.

It is time now to let go of the pain of the past…
